Tarang development

Origin: According to the Archaeologists, origin of these divine Panchaloha idols dates back to 13th century AD. Panchaloha stands for five metals. These Idols are priceless due to the combination of metals used (a small portion of gold and silver is used for the sheen finish). They adorn the sanctum sanctorum of various temples scintillating positive aura around them.

Technique: Creating this masterpiece is a tedious task which requires immense patience. The composition of the metals as well as the techniques adopted to create this sculpture is done in accordance with the Shilpa Shashtras. Lost wax technique is used here. Firstly, the wax model is made using honey/candle wax/rubber wax. This model is placed on the clay to create a mold by imprinting. This takes about two days to set. The metal is melted in an inground furnace at temperature of 1500 C and is poured into the clay mold. Once cooled, the mold is casted off by hammering. The minute details are engraved onto the sculptures and is polished.

Modernization: This combination of metal is now used for making jewelries like ring, armlets, etc.
